| Abstract | O presente trabalho é um estudo do bioma Cerrado, que quantifica a incidência de queimadas no período de 1997 a 2011 através da classificação digital de imagens do satélite landsat 5, no software livre SPRING. Um padrão de incidência de fogo é um dado fundamental para o manejo do fogo em ecossistemas sujeitos a queimas periódicas como os do Cerrado, mas os estudos são escassos nesse bioma. A área de estudo foi o Parque Estadual do Jalapão com 1.589 km2, criado em Janeiro/2001 no estado do Tocantins, junto com uma zona de amortecimento de 7,3 km. As áreas queimadas foram estimadas para dois períodos: início da estação seca (IES) e final da estação seca (FES) e para inferir o padrão de sazonalidade do fogo o intervalo de 1997-2011 foi dividido em quatro períodos: 1997-2002 (período 1); 2004-2008 (período 2); 2009-2011 (período 3); 2004-2011 (período 4). A partir desta análise foi possível observar maiores áreas queimadas no período final da estação seca no intervalo de 2004-2011 (período 4). Essa mudança seria prejudicial ao ambiente porque os fogos no início da seca fragmentam a paisagem e previnem os fogos tardios que são mais severos e prejudiciais à vegetação devido a maior extensão, intensidade e velocidade. É intrínseca à área de estudo atividades econômicas relacionadas ao extrativismo, principalmente artesanato feito com capim dourado, cuja colheita é dependente da queima prévia de áreas onde este incide. Discute-se então, possíveis relações entre as atividades realizadas na área e as mudanças no regime do fogo observadas na análise, além de conflitos no manejo do fogo no PEJ. ABSTRACT: The hereby paper is a study of the biome Cerrado, or Brazilian Savanna, and quantifies the incidence of burnt areas in the time interval of 1997 to 2011 through digital classification of images from the landsat 5 satellite, in the free software SPRING. A fire incidence pattern is a fundamental piece of data for the fire management in ecosystems subjected to periodical burning like the ones found in Cerrado; even then these types of studies are scarce in this particular biome. The studied area was the Parque Estadual do Jalapão (Jalapão State Park), which has 1.589 km² and was created in January/2001 in the state of Tocantins, and in addition, a 7,3 km buffer around the park. The burnt areas were estimated for two periods: the beginning of the dry season (início da estação seca IES) and the end of the dry season (final da estação seca FES), and to infer the seasonal fire patterns the 1997-2011 interval was divided into 4 periods: 1997-2002 (period 1); 2004-2008 (period 2); 2009-2011 (period 3); 2004-2011 (period 4). From the data obtained in this analysis it was observed bigger burnt areas at the end of the dry season, for the 2004-2011 interval (period 4). This change would be considered detrimental to the environment, since the fires of the beginning of the season fragment the landscape and prevent the late fires that are severer and harmful to the vegetation since theyre bigger, faster and more intense. | |||
