To understand the evolution of optical capabilities different small satellite databases were reviewed, focusing on LEO, optical payloads, and missions deployed over the last decade. The classification was performed to break down and organized nearly one thousand spacecraft. Capabilities of this spacecraft were compared to traditional missions such as Chiles 140 kg SSOT and theoretical limits for their telescopes. It was found that almost ¾ of them are deployed in the most active orbits in LEO, SSO, and ISS. The capabilities of the latest generation Planet Dove are getting near the order of magnitude for SSOT. The main difference is the challenge in the number of spacecraft and ground segment required to be able to download and process the data. %E Rodrigues, Aline Castilho, %E Barbosa, Anderson Luis, %E Teixeira, André Ferreira, %E Batista, Carlos Leandro Gomes, %E Oliveira, Caroline Mateus de, %E Cuellar, Dairo Antonio, %T Low Earth orbit Earth observation CubeSat classification in its second decade %@electronicmailaddress alelopez@udec.cl %@electronicmailaddress walter.abrahao@inpe.br %@format On-line. %@secondarytype PRE CN INT %K CubeSat, LEO, Small satellites, Nano satellites. %8 18 -20 ago. 2020 %@usergroup simone %@group CSE-ETES-SESPG-INPE-MCTIC-GOV-BR %@group DIDEA-CGETE-INPE-MCTIC-GOV-BR %3 64 - [ARTIGO][INPE] Alejandro Ignácio Lopez Telgie.pdf %J São José dos Campos %@issn 2177-3114 %2 sid.inpe.br/mtc-m16d/2020/08.13.11.33.56 %@affiliation Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) %@affiliation Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) %I Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) %4 sid.inpe.br/mtc-m16d/2020/08.13.11.33 %@documentstage not transferred %D 2020 %1 Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) %S Anais do 11º Workshop em Engenharia e Tecnologia Espaciais %A Lopez-Telgie, Alejandro, %A Dos Santos, Walter Abrahão, %C São José dos Campos %@rightsholder originalauthor yes %@area ETES
