In Portugal it will map the sky polarized emission of the Northern Hemisphere in C-band and provide templates for map calibration and foreground control of microwave space data to be provided by ESA Planck Surveyor mission and later missions. The receiver system is equipped with a novel receiver with a full digital back-end using a low-cost Field Programmable Gate Array without compromising its performance relation. This new digital backend comprises a base-band complex cross-correlator outputting the four Stokes parameters of the incoming polarized radiation. In this document we describe the design and implementation of the complex correlator using the FPGA and the dedicated digitizers at each receiver arm, detailing the method applied at the several algorithm stages. This correlator is suitable for large sky area polarization continuum surveys. %@mirrorrepository sid.inpe.br/mtc-m19@80/2009/08.21.17.02.53 %8 May %N 1 %T Digital complex correlator for a C-band polarimetry survey %@electronicmailaddress jbergano@av.it.pt %@electronicmailaddress %@electronicmailaddress cupido@ua.pt %@electronicmailaddress dbarbosa@av.it.pt %@electronicmailaddress %@electronicmailaddress %@electronicmailaddress Bruce_Grossan@lbl.gov %@secondarytype PRE PI %K Instrumentation: polarimeters, Digital correlators, Radio astronomy, Microwave background, RADIO ASTRONOMY, POLARIZATION, INTERFEROMETER, EMISSION, GHZ. %@usergroup administrator %@usergroup marciana %@usergroup tereza@sid.inpe.br %@group %@group %@group %@group %@group %@group CEA-CEA-INPE-MCT-BR %@e-mailaddress tereza@sid.inpe.br %@secondarykey INPE--PRE/ %@issn 0922-6435 %2 sid.inpe.br/mtc-m19/2011/07.26.12.00.45 %@affiliation Inst Telecomunicacoes, Radio Astron Grp, P-3810193 Aveiro, Portugal %@affiliation %@affiliation Inst Super Tecn, Inst Plasmas & Fusao Nucl, P-1049001 Lisbon, Portugal %@affiliation Inst Telecomunicacoes, Radio Astron Grp, P-3810193 Aveiro, Portugal %@affiliation Inst Telecomunicacoes, Radio Astron Grp, P-3810193 Aveiro, Portugal %@affiliation Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) %@affiliation Univ Calif Berkeley, Lawrence Berkeley Natl Lab, Berkeley, CA 94720 USA %@affiliation Univ Calif Berkeley, Lawrence Berkeley Natl Lab, Berkeley, CA 94720 USA %@project Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT)[PTDC/CTE-AST/65925/2006, POCI/CTE-AST/57209/2004]; COMPETE; QREN; PANORAMA project %B Experimental Astronomy %@versiontype publisher %P 23-37 %4 sid.inpe.br/mtc-m19/2011/07.26.12.00 %@documentstage not transferred %D 2011 %V 30 %@doi 10.1007/s10686-011-9217-6. %A Bergano, M, %A Fernandes, F, %A Cupido, L, %A Barbosa, D, %A Fonseca, R, %A Ferreira, I, %A Grossan, Bruce, %A Smoot, G., %@dissemination WEBSCI; PORTALCAPES; MGA. %@area CEA
