TerraHydro proposes a different computational representation for dealing with water flow in GIS applications. These applications involve the concept of local flow, extracted from terrain, which is the basis for most spatially explicit distributed hydrological models. Different computer structures based on regular grids, triangular irregular networks, contour lines, and irregular polygon tessellations have been used to extract local flow, occasioning entirely dependent on the data structure chosen for terrain representation. Then, each local flow set requires its own specific extraction algorithms, as well as different formats to store its associated local flow. TerraHydro proposes a data structure based on Graph Theory that unify computer local flow representation, independent of the data structures used for terrain representation permitting that a set of operations for water management can be formally defined over this new structure. %@mirrorrepository sid.inpe.br/mtc-m19@80/2009/08.21.17.02.53 %T Terrahydro - A distributed hydrological system using graph structure for unified water flow representation %@isbn 978-1-4577-1003-2 %@secondarytype PRE CI %K accumulate flow, distributed hydrologic models, graph structure, Local flow, water flow, accumulate flow, Distributed hydrologic model, graph structure, Local flows, water flow Engineering controlled terms: Data structures, Flow of water, Geographic information systems, Geology, Graph theory, Graphic methods, Hydraulics, Information management, Landforms, Mathematical models, Remote sensing, Water management Engineering main heading: Flow visualization. %8 24-29 July %@usergroup administrator %@usergroup marciana %@group DPI-OBT-INPE-MCT-BR %@group DPI-OBT-INPE-MCT-BR %@group DPI-OBT-INPE-MCT-BR %@group DPI-OBT-INPE-MCT-BR %@secondarykey INPE--PRE/ %@issn 2153-6996 %2 sid.inpe.br/mtc-m19/2011/12.14.15.16.43 %@affiliation Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) %@affiliation Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) %@affiliation Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) %@affiliation Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) %I IEEE International %4 sid.inpe.br/mtc-m19/2011/12.14.15.16 %@documentstage not transferred %D 2011 %@doi 10.1109/IGARSS.2011.6050154 %S Proceedings %A Rosim, Sergio, %A Monteiro, Antonio Miguel V., %A Renno, Camilo Daleles, %A Oliveira, Joao Ricardo de F., %C Vancouver %@area SRE
